“THE KING STEPPED OUT WITH HIS RAREST TREASURES YET. He’s filled arenas for decades, but at the Kennedy Center Honors, George Strait wasn’t just a superstar—he was a proud grandfather. Standing beside Norma, his wife of 54 years, “”The King”” looked humbled as the medallion was placed around his neck, even sharing a laugh when the President complimented his famous hair. Yet, the true highlight wasn’t the award; it was seeing his rarely-seen grandkids, Harvey and Jilliann, standing tall beside him. It wasn’t the gold that made him shine the brightest that night; it was the family he’s built. Fame is fleeting, but a love like this? That’s the only legacy that truly lasts forever.”

George Strait’s Grandkids Join Him For Rare Public Outing At Kennedy Center Honors

President Trump Recognizes George Strait As A Kennedy Center Honoree

George Strait made the Kennedy Center Honors a family affair, and his grandkids came along for the ride.

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump announced that George would join the 2025 class of Kennedy Center honorees. He became the 11th country artist to ever receive a Kennedy Center Honor. Prior recipients include Reba McEntire, Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks, and Loretta Lynn.

In addition to George, the 2025 class of Kennedy Center honorees includes Sylvester Stallone, KISS, Gloria Gaynor, and Michael Crawford.

The honorees received their medallions during a ceremony held in the White House’s Oval Office on Saturday (December 6). President Trump introduced the group, saying:

“We can hardly imagine the country music phenomena without its ‘King of Country,’ or the American disco without its ‘First Lady,’ or Broadway without its ‘Phantom,’ or Rock ‘n’ Roll without its hottest band in the world, or Hollywood without one of its greatest visionaries.”

The President recognized George first. When “The King of Country” removed his hat to have the medallion placed around his neck, President Trump remarked, “Oh, he’s got good hair.” George responded, “A little bit. I’ve still got a little bit.”

George Strait’s Grandkids Look All Grown Up In Photo From The Kennedy Center Honors

George and the other Kennedy Center Honorees were recognized during a ceremony held on Sunday (December 7). This ceremony was filmed for a TV special that will air on CBS on December 23.

The event, hosted by President Trump, was filled with tributes to the honorees. Fans can expect to see several musical tributes to George when the TV program airs.

George’s family, including his two grandkids, got the chance to see those tributes in person. Photos from the event show George on the red carpet with his wife, Norma, their son, Bubba, daughter-in-law, Tamara, and grandchildren, Harvey and Jilliann.

Harvey (age 13) and Jilliann (age 9) are rarely seen in public. Because of that, fans who saw them at the Kennedy Center Honors were stunned to see how grown-up they both look!

Plus, we had to include a sweet photo of George and his beautiful wife, Norma. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on December 4. So their night out at the Kennedy Center Honors was a celebration of that, as well!

Country fans have always admired how their relationship has stood the test of time. See the picture of them together at the Kennedy Center Honors below.
